Celebrate the Year of the Dog by em-barking on a family adventure at one of these Singapore attractions…

Once you are done tossing your lo hei, snapped a gazillion Insta-worthy Chinatown photos and exhausted our Chinese New Year guide, we’ve found the family attractions that are staying open over the Lunar New Year so you can carry on the celebrations. Hang out with underwater dragons, find Cookie Monster in a cheongsam, and see lions dancing at the zoo. Gong xi fa cai to you all!

While the real lions may not be dancing, the residents at Singapore Zoo will be getting their festive treats, and kids are invited to join the zoo-diac trail and meet some auspicious special guests as part of the Lunar New Year season.

Sentosa is really laying on the Chinese New Year feels with its family attractions – Madame Tussauds, MOSH, Skyline Luge, KidZania, and more – celebrating the festive season with lots of special events, Snoopy decor and big ticket prize giveaways (over $50,000 worth!). Check out our mini-vid of the five things to do over at Sentosa right now, then jump on a monorail for a family weekend of adventure. You’ll find us hanging out with Snoopy…

Step out of the heat (or rain!) and into the Art Science Museum where kiddos will love the dazzling Future World interactive digital playground. No swings and slides, but plenty of colourful exploration to be had in this hands-on, must-see exhibit. And once you’re done with the technicolour fun, try out the new Treasures of the Natural World exhibition for young adventurers

We all love a dragon dance, but have you ever seen an underwater dragon dance? Join in the Gong SEA Fa Caifestivities over at S.E.A. Aquarium for a huge dose of auspicious celebrations: don’t forget to dive into the new shark exhibition!

Make a big splash over CNY by packing your swimmers and heading over to the east side of town to Wild Wild Wet, where you’ll be guaranteed a whole day of wild and wet escapades! It recently got a HUGE expansion and makeover, so this is one of the few places in Singapore where kids of ALL ages will be kept amused for hours. In fact, it’s so cool, why not make a staycation of it at the integrated D’Resort to extend the adventure?

CNY activities are in full swing at Gardens by the Bay. Photography: Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay is awash with colour, performances and all things Chinese New Year, and is open throughout the festive season. Expect beautiful floral displays, al fresco movies, stilt walkers and ultraviolet (UV) light performances as part of the lineup, and the family dog is invited too! There’s also plenty of room for scootering, and some great Asian eats at Satay by the Bay, so you’re good for a whole day of adventure.

Minions and the Sesame Street gang in cheongsams, dazzling dancing dragons and lively martial-arts dance performances are just snippets of the paw-someness happening over at Universal Studios Singapore during Chinese New Year. Don’t forget to check out our guide to acing the perfect day out at this action-packed adventure park before heading over.
